May 8 (Reuters) - The man accused of shooting and killing eight people at a Texas mall appeared to have embraced white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideologies, multiple media outlets reported on Monday. In social media profiles thought to be linked to the suspect, 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, investigators found posts targeting racial or ethnic minorities, NBC News reported, citing two law enforcement officials. On a Russian social media platform, a user believed to have been Garcia praised the dictator Adolf Hitler and sympathized with neo-Nazi beliefs, according to the New York Times, citing law enforcement sources. The Allen Police Department, Collin County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reports. Friends of Kelley reported her missing on Jan. 11 after not having heard from her for several days, the sheriff's office has said. The sheriff’s office has said Ferguson is also known as Kevin Brown, and online jail records list Ferguson as being married. The sheriff's office said the case was an ongoing homicide investigation. A search is underway for a Texas woman who was reported missing a week ago and whose car was subsequently found in a desolate area before authorities took a person of interest into custody. A police officer in Carrollton, Texas, about 20 miles north of Dallas, died Tuesday night after he was hit by a passing car while aiding another officer in a driving while intoxicated investigation. The Carrolton Police Department announced early Wednesday, “We lost a beloved officer in the line of duty overnight." The officer, who was not identified, was “backing up” another officer on a DWI investigation in the westbound lanes of the President George Bush Turnpike “when he was hit by a passing driver,” just before 10:30 p.m., police said. The driver of the passing vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was transported to a hospital where he was also pronounced dead, police said.
